At J.L Geotechnical we strive to provide a high quality service in a timely and efficient manner. As a quality control, all major works are peer reviewed by external partners. Together with our industry partners we offer the following services for our Commercial and Government clients:
For clients who intend on developing green and brown field sites, J.L Geotechnical can provide a customised Geotechnical and Environmental investigation of the site. We can work with designers to produce projects that work to the strengths of the site as well as to mitigate any problematic aspects. Some services that can be included in these investigations are:
Potential projects are fraught with risk. At J.L Geotechnical we can help mitigate some of that risk by conducting feasibility studies on the design and construction parameters of the project. This can be
Famously noted by the father of geomechanics himself, '...savings associate with inadequate preliminary investigations are entirely out of proportion to the financial risks,' as such, comprehensive and detailed geotechnical investigations are required by all projects, small and large. At J.L Geotechnical, we go above and beyond to provide our clients with the best products and our products reduce project risk and cost.
Adding value to residential subdivisions by conducting a lot classification investigation before sale can increase the value and demand on your product. Lot classification can be combined with any number of investigations to expedite and reduce costs of the over all project.
J.L Geotechnical provide contamination assessments for green field and brown field sites in the form of phase 1, Desktop and site visit assessment of the site (PSI), and phase 2 investigations, invasive investigations, usually done in conjunction with a geotechnical investigations where soil and water are sampled and sent to our laboratory partners.
Sites that are prone to Landslide present a particularly high risk. The can impact structures and people in devastating ways. Assessing and when needed, mediating those risks is particularly important. This is done using a variety of methods, including using speciality contractors and equipment to assess the site as well as advanced modelling software to test and validate different solutions.
Some soils can have high salinity, or acid sulphate potential. Salt can impact on the steel reinforcement of a concrete structure where as Sulphates, if excavated, can create sulphuric acid. We can conduct an on site investigation to test for salinity or acid sulphate soils, we can also do these investigations in conjunction with a Lot Classification.
J.L Geotechnical design onsite retaining structures, foundations and pavements. We do this by modelling your site and designing a structure to suit your needs. Using advanced modelling software we can virtually test and validate different solutions.
Soft, reactive or aggressive soils require a range a solutions. At J.L Geotechnical we can design, model and inspect you foundations to provide the required foundation parameters for your projects.
Retaining structures are used to maximise usable space, mitigate landslides or slopes that are prone to landslide. By designing retaining structures that work with the site and the natural setting, J.L Geotechnical will maximise the utility of your site or project.
Soft soils (unconsolidated soils), or soils that experience changed conditions (overburden pressures, microtunnelling) can, over time, settle. The settlement expected depends greatly on the conditions on site, the history of the soil and the kinds of changes planned. Entities who own assets like roads and pipes often require settlement analysis before providing approval to microtunnelling projects. Likewise earthworks and other projects that change the overburden on soft soils (either by design or by necessity) may experience settlement or a rebound.
